The Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF), is an international, competitive festival. Its mission is to provide a public forum in Brooklyn in order to advance public interest in independent film and to draw worldwide attention to Brooklyn as a center for cinema. The 2012 series, featuring 104 films from 29 different countries (chosen from over 2,000 submissions coming from 111 countries worldwide) will feature a significant selection of work from Poland. ROSE (Roza) will be the opening night feature, director Wojtek Smarzowski's intense story of life and death in post-World War II Poland. ROSE swept the top prizes at the Polish Film Awards before coming to the USA - among them, the Best Actor for leading man Marcin Dorocinski - marking Smarzowski's true arrival, following his presentation of The Dark House at BFF 2010. Award-winning cinematographer Piotr Sobocinski will participate in a Q&A after the opening night screening on Friday, June 1 at Brooklyn Heights Cinema 1. Robert Proch, 2010, 5 min (presented as part of the short film program during the 2011 Transitions festival at the Film Society of Lincoln Center), and live action COLOURBLEED, dir.
