PIOTR TOMASZUK

Piotr Tomaszuk, born in Bialystok in 1961, graduated in 1984 from the Theatre Department of Zelwerowicz State Theatre Academy in Warsaw, and in 1986 completed a directing course at the Puppet Department of the Zelwerowicz State Theatre Academy in Bialystok.


In 1985 he was engaged as an assistant director and then as a director of the Puppet State Theatre in Bialystok, while also teaching at the Theatre Academy. From 1989 to 1991 he was artistic director at the Miniatura State Theatre in Gdansk.


With Tadeusz Slobodzianek and a few actors from the Miniatura Theatre, Piotr founded the Wierszalin Theatre in 1991. Piotr has won many awards in Poland for his writing and directing, including one of Poland's most prestigious awards, the 1994 Konrad Swinarski Prize, for his staging of Roll-a-Pea and Merlin. - Michèle Fizaine, 2001 Montpellier Festival de Radio
