Warsaw, summer of 1939. While Poland is living the last hours
of its freedom, thirty-year-old Joey, an aspiring novelist with
an uncertain future, experiences the bitter "satisfaction"
of the failure of his first book. One morning, he receives an
unexpected visit by his old high school teacher, Mr Pimko, who
carries him off on a strange and unsettling journey... Back at
his old school, Joey meets his old class-mates and watches their
noisy games, their violent conflicts over sports and politics,
their lewd and grotesque contests for the one who will make the
most vulgar face...
