The 2nd Annual Polish Film Festival in New York is organized under the honorary patronage of ANDRZEJ WAJDA, who has just received an Honorary Golden Bear for his Lifetime Achievements at the International Film Festival in Berlin. The Festival is also supported by such prestigious Polish artists as film director Agnieszka Holland, photographer Ryszard Horowitz, and graphic artist Rafal Olbinski. The Festival will present the best of the most recent Polish feature releases as well as documentaries, shorts, and a special tribute to Polish animated films.

The Opening Night Gala will include:

§     A commemoration of KRZYSZTOF KIESLOWSKI, with a special screening of a new release of a documentary, A Conversation with Kieslowski, directed by Andreas Voigt;

§     My Nikifor (Moj Nikifor), directed by KRZYSZTOF KRAUZE, awarded the highest honor at the 2005 Chicago International Film Festival

§     Animation: Oscar-winning Tango by ZBIGNIEW RYBCZYNSKI and Love forgives everything by MARIUSZ WILCZYNSKI

Other highlights of the Festival include:

§     the U.S. premiere of The Collector (Komornik), directed by FELIKS FALK, 2006 Polish Oscar candidate and winner of the “Best Movie Award” at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia 2005;

§     The Wedding (Wesele) by WOJCIECH SMARZOWSKI, Best Directing in Gdynia 2004.

§     From the younger generation of Polish filmmakers: Perfect Afternoon (Doskonale popoludnie), directed by PRZEMYSLAW WOJCIESZEK.

Breakthrough ANIMATION, including works by the acclaimed filmmakers MARIUSZ (WILK) WILCZYNSKI and Academy Award winner ZBIGNIEW RYBCZYNSKI, will be shown throughout the festival and celebrated at a special closing party at Galapagos Art Space in Williamsburg.

All films are in Polish with English subtitles

The 2nd Annual Polish Film Festival in New York is presented by FILMART, together with the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York City, and the Polish Film Institute in Warsaw. Additional support has been provided by the Polish Cultural Institute in New York.
