In a presentation ceremony on September 19, 2005, hosted by Charles Busch at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, three of the first annual New York Innovative Theatre Awards, established to bring recognition to the estimated 40,000 artists working in the Off-Off-Broadway venue, went to Mrozek's Serenade and Philosopher Fox, which had met critical and popular acclaim during their four-week run at the Collective Unconscious in February, 2005. The three recipients were:

Outstanding Actor in a Lead Role

Paul Bargetto
Outstanding Director

East River Commedia and the Polish Cultural Institute of New York
Outstanding Production of a Play

Serenade and Philosopher Fox, which represent only the second time that the Polish Cultural Institute has co-produced a theatrical production (the first being Mrozek's Striptease and Out at Sea by Bargetto and the East River Commedia in 2004), were also the winner of 6 additional IT nominations:

Earlier this year we announced that Gombrowicz Wins Obie !!« thanks to The Pig Iron Theatre Company's 2004 production of Hell Meets Henry Halfway, which won a 2005 Village Voice Special Citation Obie. And this year, too, it seems that Poland's equally mischievous satirist Mrozek has "swept" the IT Awards !
