Chaoyin Cai, winner of the 2010 New York Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition presented by Symphony Space and the Polish Cultural Institute New York, will give a recital in Chopin's birthplace of Zelazowa Wola on July 22, 2012. The concert is organized in collaboration with the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.


In celebration of the Chopin Bicentennial in 2010, the New York Piano Competition selected pianists from the top American music schools to compete before an international panel of distinguished judges comprised of pianists Ewa Kupiec, Benjamin Hochman, and Daniel Epstein, and Washington Post culture critic, Philip Kennicott.


Hailed for her effortless virtuosity and mature interpretation, Chaoyin Cai is currently pursuing her DMA degree in piano performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying with Christopher Taylor. She has performed recitals in China, Poland, Austria, Germany, Italy, and the United States. Ms. Cai has also been a featured soloist with the Shanghai Opera House Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, and Romania Symphony Orchestra.


Ms Cai has placed well in major international competitions, taking third prize, 2008 USASU Bösendorfer International Piano Competition (Arizona); third prize, 2008 Russian International Piano Competition (California); first prize, 2007 Cleveland Institute of Music Concerto Competition; and third prize, 2004 Jinzhong National Piano Competition in China. She won the CIM concerto competition and performed at Severance Hall under the baton of Maestro Carl Topilow.
