The Modjeska Theater from Legnica
by William Shakespeare
directed by Jacek Glomb
Saturday, October 14, 2006 - Sunday, October 22, 2006
Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, CA
One of the most unique Polish theatre companies, Legnica's Modjeska Theatre is famed throughout Central Europe for its wild, intensely physical spectacles and productions staged in re-claimed, derelict, or otherwise run-down spaces. The recipient of numerous international awards, including the prestigious Yorick Award (twice) for Best Production of a Shakespearean Play in Poland, a country well known for its strong Shakespearean tradition, the Modjeska Theatre, in co-production with ARDEN 2, presents the American premiere of Jacek Glomb's stunning interpretation of Shakespeare's tragedy (in Polish, with accompanying English libretto).
