and the designation of Madison Avenue & 37th Street as Jan Karski Corner

The ceremony will take place in front of the Consulate's Residence in Manhattan at 233 Madison Avenue, New York , NY

Jan Karski (Jan Kozielewski) 1914 - 2000
Legendary Polish underground curier in WWII. The first to tell Allies about the Holocaust when there might have been time to stop it. A Hero of the Polish and Jewish people, "A Righteous Among the Nations". Professor at Geogretown University, 1952-1992.

"Jan Karski: First Witness to the Holocaust" - a talk by Ambassador Maciej Kozlowski, Ph.D. Director of Middle east Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Poland; historian, writer, journalist, diplomat, Poland's former Ambassador to Israel (1999-2003), author of the biography The Emissary: The Story of Jan Karski
