Presentation of 2008 Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz Prize for exceptional achievement in the propagation of Polish theatre culture throughout the world to ELLEN STEWART, director of La MaMa E.T.C.

The presentation of the Prize will be made by Malgorzata Semil, President of the Polish Centre of the International Theatre Institute.

The Polish Cultural Institute is proud, honored and delighted to learn that this prestigious award has been given this year to that eminent and daring theatre promoter, Ellen Stewart, who has consistently introduced to American audiences and made famous here the very best of Poland's theatre artists and theatre companies.


The Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz prize is granted annually on the occasion of World Theatre Day by the Board of the Polish Centre of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) since 1983 for exceptional achievement in the propagation of Polish theatre culture throughout the world.
