Thursday, November 1, 2001 - Thursday, February 28, 2002

Museum of Jewish Heritage
36 Battery Place, New York, NY

"Scream the Truth at the World" - Emanuel Ringelblum and the Hidden Archive of the compelling Warsaw Ghetto Exhibition Opens at Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust November 7. Recognizing that the events unfolding in Europe were unprecedented, Warsaw historian Emanuel Ringelblum organized a group to document Jewish life in German-occupied Poland. Drawings, photographs, posters, newspapers, children's school essays, and reports of Jews being murdered were collected by the clandestine group in the Warsaw Ghetto from Nov. 1940 until Feb. 1943. Less than a handful of the group's members survived; Ringelblum wasn't among them. As the Nazis began liquidating the Ghetto, the materials were buried in metal containers, of which several were recovered from the Ghetto's rubble in 1946 and 1950.
