PADEREWSKI DAYS IN NEW YORK CITY
As part of the celebration 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and the USA, on November 16-24, Paderewski Days Festival (II edition) will be presented in New York City. The festival, through various activities addressed to the New York audience, presents, promotes and reminds Ignacy Jan Paderewski and his great merits in the field of music and Polish-American diplomatic cooperation for Polish independence.
The festival is supported by the Honorary Patronage of Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York Maciej Golubiewski, and co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland as part of the competition "Cooperation in the field of public diplomacy 2019”. The program of Paderewski Days includes a series of cultural events: concerts, recitals, exhibitions, art-shows, lectures and meetings with artists from Poland. The originator of the festival is Adam Wibrowski - a member of international music associations.
During "Paderewski Days 2019" the music of Maestro Paderewski will be heard in various districts of New York City. On November 16, on the concert „KEYS TO FREEDOM“ in Lincoln Center (Bruno Walter Auditorium, NYPL, 2:30 PM) internationally acclaimed pianist Radoslaw Sobczak performs two epic, romantic sonatas by revolutionary Polish composers: Paderewski and Szymanowski. After that, on November 24, during the concert „PADEREWSKI & CHOPIN“ at the Polish & Slavic Center, pianist Radoslaw Sobczak will perform together with soprano Anna Kozlakiewicz. Both concerts will be hosted by Adam Wibrowski - artistic director of festival.
An important event will be exhibitions dedicated to Maestro Paderewski. On November 22 (Friday, 5:00 PM) at the Polish & Slavic Center, Andrzej Renes will present the SCULPTURE EXHIBITION „Between music and diplomacy“ inspired by the music and life of Paderewski and Chopin. Artist from Poland will perform also audiovisual show. The second presentation will be the HISTORICAL EXHIBITION “PADEREWSKI” with archival photographs from the Polish Museum in America. The premiere show of this exhibition and the meeting with its authors is scheduled for November 23. The program of festival includes also lectures „Ignacy Paderewski - pianist and diplomat“, meetings & workshops with artists from Poland and presentation of the guide "In the footsteps of Paderewski in New York” (November 20, 12:30, KRAKUS CLUB, PSC).
