For over 40 years Henryk Tomaszewski, born in Warsaw in 1914, has been a leading poster designer and teacher of the art of poster design. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw he was a professor there from 1952 till 1985. A member of the elite Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), he was also granted the title of Honorary Royal Designer for Industry by the Royal Society of Arts in London. Among his best-known works are his famous fonts inspired by the sculpture of Henry Moore.


Major awards include First Prize at the International Biennale of Arts, Sao Paolo, in 1963; three Grand Prix over the years at the National Polish Poster Biennale in Katowice; numerous gold and silver medals from the 60s through the 80s at the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw; a Bronze Medal in 1991 and a Silver Medal in 1994 at the International Poster Triennale in Toyama, among many others.
