Witold Zalewski began organ playing at the State Lyceum of Music in Cracow. He continued his studies at the Music Academy in Cracow under Prof. Jan Jargon, completing his diploma in 1992. He perfected his abilities at organ master courses taught by J. Laukvik and G. Schneider. In 1987 he was granted a stipend to take part in a master course in Zurich led by Jean Gillou.
 
In 1992-96 he worked as a singer in the Choir of the Polish Radio in Cracow and as organist at the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Cracow. Since 1995 he has been organist at the Royal Cathedral at Wawel Castle, while teaching at the Archdiocesan Organ School. He is the accompanist of the Men’s Choir of the Royal Cathedral at Wawel as well as the choir of the Theological Seminary in Cracow.
 
Since 1998 he has been a member of the Committee of Church Music of the Metropolitan Curia in Cracow. He was the organist during liturgies celebrated by Pope John Paul II during his pilgrimages to Poland. Witold Zalewski performs widely as soloist and chamber musician at home and abroad.
 
Mr. Zalewski is author of the Church Song-Book, published by Polish Music Editions (Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne) in 1997, and co-editor and co-author of other numerous publications (Wawel Song-Book etc.). He is founder and artistic director of the International Organ Festival in Zakopane and Rabka-Zdrój.
